Break-even, in plain numbers

Essential is the price of playing online. Extra and Premium only pay off through the games you’d otherwise buy.

On yearly billing, Extra costs $55 more than Essential. If you’d pay $40 for a game, two Catalog games a year cover the difference. If you’d wait for $20 sales, you need three. Premium costs another $25 a year over Extra, so it’s only worth it if you use the Classics or streaming.

Before You Renew

Check your games, billing term and sharing needs before your next renewal.

Cheapest ways to pay for PS Plus

Review billing choices and other ways to reduce the cost of the membership.

Pay yearly
Compare the local 12-month price with twelve monthly payments in the table above.
Stack codes before a price rise
You can stack prepaid 12-month codes to lock in the current price for longer.
Upgrade, don't restart
Upgrading mid-term charges the difference for the time left, so you don't lose what you've paid.
Wait for sales
Sony runs PS Plus discounts during big sales events. A discounted 12-month code is usually the cheapest way in.

Sharing and family rules

Check who can use the benefits and where the membership’s sharing limits apply.

Primary console sharing
Other accounts on your primary PS5 or PS4 can use online multiplayer and Catalog games.
Not across homes
Sharing works on one primary console. A second household needs its own membership.

Trials and discounts

Review trial eligibility and offers before comparing them with the regular renewal cost.

New-member offers
Sony sometimes offers trials or discounted first months to new or lapsed members.
No student discount
There's no standing student price in the US.

FAQ

Find answers to common questions about the costs, features and assumptions covered on this page.

The examples, price-history entries and FAQ price amounts below refer to the United States. Use the selected country’s table and calculator for local costs.

How much is PS Plus in 2026?

Current US monthly prices are $10.99 (Essential), $16.99 (Extra) and $19.99 (Premium). Twelve months is $79.99, $134.99 and $159.99.

Is PS Plus Extra worth it?

It pays for itself over Essential once you'd otherwise buy a few Catalog games a year. The calculator shows the exact break-even for your game price.

Do I need PS Plus to play online?

Yes, for most paid games. Free-to-play games like Fortnite don't need it.

What's the difference between Extra and Premium?

Premium adds the Classics catalog, game trials and supported cloud streaming. Australia has Deluxe instead, with classics and trials but no cloud streaming. If you don't use those extras, Extra is the better value.

Do I keep monthly games if I cancel?

They stay in your library, but you can only play them while you're a member.
